What motivates us
Our vision is bold and clear: literacy and numeracy for all children. With a mission of community-powered learning leading the way, we’ve reached more than one million children with reading, writing, and basic math.
We’re proud to be a locally led organization, with operations in more than 47 districts to date and head offices in Kampala, Uganda, and Kigali, Rwanda. Our global team provides support from around the world.

Building Tomorrow Fellowship
Building Tomorrow Fellows form the backbone of our work, anchoring Community Education Teams and mobilizing stakeholders to support education.
The Fellowship is a competitive two-year program. Fellows deploy to rural communities to support foundational learning and other aspects of education. They participate in intensive training to develop leadership skills and become experts in our Roots to Rise literacy and numeracy program.

Working with us
Grace Musiimire, Director of Programs and former Fellow
“The culture at BT is like a personal trainer for your career. It pushes you to grow and get stronger! It’s not just a workplace; it’s a place where I feel valued and empowered to make a difference.”
Achielo Kasozi, Assistant Regional Manager and former Fellow
“Working with Building Tomorrow is a rewarding journey because every day I feel I unlock potential in myself, the team I lead, and the communities we serve. I find that the challenges presented by each community’s circumstances are not barriers, but instead catalysts for transformative growth. I began working with Building Tomorrow as a Fellow, then was hired in a permanent role as a Regional Coordinator, and now am the Assistant Regional Manager. For me, working at Building Tomorrow is not just a job, but instead a journey of impact and purpose.”
Innocent Akampurira, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Manager and former Fellow
“If you have an appetite for growth, learning, and doing work that impacts children’s lives now and for future generations, Building Tomorrow is the place to be, regardless of your chosen niche or career stage.
Over the years as part of the Monitoring and Evaluation Team at Building Tomorrow, I have found the experience incredibly enriching. I have learned a great deal from various teams, been mentored, and also had the opportunity to lead.”
Privah Twongire, Regional Coordinator and former Fellow
“Each time I step into a Building Tomorrow Roots to Rise camp and see the joy on learners’ faces as they build new skills, my heart is filled with the impact of empowering children to learn and grow!”
