Foundational literacy and numeracy: a joint priority
Children in Rwanda face several education challenges, including overcrowded classrooms and overstretched teachers. We’re committed to supporting the government’s priority of advancing literacy and numeracy, building on our decades of expertise and proven models.

Our approach to BT Rwanda
We began operations in 2025 with the deployment of an inaugural cohort of 10 BT Fellows. Fellows are bolstering community-powered learning through trained Community Education Volunteers, and are committed to improving reading, writing, and math for primary-aged children. The programming contextualizes our proven Roots to Rise model developed in Uganda, supporting learners in transitioning to the country’s new English-curriculum focus.
